Over the past few years, I’ve found that of the businesses I’ve personally worked with, well over 80% do not have a solid WordPress backup plan in place for ongoing backups.
Below is my minimal recommended backup plan for active WordPress websites:
Install Plugins (either or both):
UpdraftPlus and/or WP Time Capsule
Backup interval:*
Set files backup to once a week, for four weeks.
and database backup to every day, for four weeks.
* 12 weeks if you have ample space allowances on your cloud account.
Recommended cloud accounts:
Switch your local backup to either Google Drive (free) or Backblaze (paid). Amazon S3 is fine a well, though is more costly over time, especially if you are doing frequent recovery of site files.
